The Advocacy and Policy Committee strives to bring awareness to our community about important issues surrounding mental health. Our goal is to shed light on the injustices many different marginalized groups face and to critically analyze the various oppressive systems working within our community.

Programming Committee

The Programming Committee works together to organize two of the biggest events in MHI: the annual Mental Health Conference (MHC), and Mental Health Awareness Month (MHAM) events in May. For the Mental Health Conference, responsibilities include closely communicating with students, alumni, and professionals to recruit speakers, panelists, and workshop hosts. For MHAM, the programming committee collaborates with the team at large to oversee and curate collaborative workshops focusing on the various intersections within mental health.

The Publicity Committee works to promote MHI events through social media, tabling, flyering, and promotion to external organizations. Additionally, through social media, we strive to create another form of interaction with the community aside from our big two yearly events.

Resource and Research Committee

Resource and Research Coordinator: Alexandra Damian

The Resource and Research Committee strives to bridge the gap between need and accessibility for the student body. Our main task is to organize the Resource Fair at the Conference but we also research existing on- and off-campus resources for smaller events throughout the year.

Social Committee

The Social Committee is all about creating and facilitating opportunities for the Mental Health Initiative to get to know when another and have fun outside of our work. It is important that our team have these events to both check in on one another and take a communal exhale, as well as let off some steam from all our hard work.
